I use my Roon Nucleus plus for streaming from Qobuz.
However since having updated to the latest Roon firmware for the Nucleus plus the search function has become very slow and often cannot find artist or tracks entered in the search field. An example: just today Roon search couldn’t find „Miles Davis“. The difference in search-speed and search-reliability becomes most obvious when comparing it with jPlay app running on my iPad too. Search with jPlay for Qobuz artist and tracks is much more faster and absolutely reliable.
Any idea what’s going wrong? It’s nice indeed getting more and more functions in Roon as Roon Ready Relay etc. But happens this at the expense of a weaker search function and slower data transfer?
I doubt that the location is relevant because at the same time jPlay works flawlessly.
Actually Roon found Miles but initially showed this error message:
I have similar issues with Qobuz and Tidal and described that problem here too. My temp solution was to logout from Qobuz, reboot Nucleus / Rock, clean library and relog to Qobuz again. Reboot again and please look how it works now. Don’t forget to restart your Fritzbox from time to time. It is a picky device too. I have a 7590AX and it need to be rebooted one time a week.
Hi @Michael_Graw,
Thanks for writing in to ask us about this issue. I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.
However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.
First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.
Thanks for the follow-up and screenshots! We were able to review a fresh diagnostic report from your Nucleus to investigate further.
This report indicated a few different network-related errors, and we’re curious:
How is your Nucleus connected to your primary router? Can you set up a temporary direct ethernet connection, and see how search performs?
Do you have multiple subnets active within your local network? If so, can you test out disabling all but one, to confirm all your Roon devices are running on the same subnet?
Hi Benjamin.
My Nucleus is connected to a switch which has an optical fibre connection to my router.
There are no subnets.
When starting my Roon App on my iPad it takes about 8 to 10 sec before the Roon UI is ready for commands.
My jPlay app is ready within 4 to 5 sec.
Roon search is actually working properly again. I haven’t changed anything!
Hi @Michael_Graw,
Were you able to test a direct connection between your Nucleus and your router? It would be good to rule out the switch as the cause of the latency that you are seeing on your iPad.
We have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS. Can you please give this a try and let me know if it helps?
