Roon sees Bluesound speakers but says “No Audio Devices Found” – Windows NUC on ASUS XT8 Mesh

Core Machine (OS and Hardware):
Intel NUC running Windows 11, hosting Roon Core.

Network Setup:

Router: ASUS ZenWiFi AX6600 (XT8) mesh system.

Core connection: Currently wired Ethernet to main XT8 router.

Bluesound devices: both on Wi-Fi (same subnet 192.168.50.x).

Audio Devices:
Two Roon Ready Bluesound speakers that Roon can see under Settings → Audio, but cannot enable — message shows “No audio devices found.”

Issue Description:
Everything was working properly until I switched my NUC from Wi-Fi → Ethernet → back to Wi-Fi.
After that, Roon began showing the speakers as visible but unselectable.
Even after reconnecting the NUC via Ethernet, Roon still refuses to play to either device.

Troubleshooting Already Tried:

Verified all devices are on same subnet (192.168.50.x).

Restarted Roon Core, Bluesound devices, and router (multiple times).

Current Behavior:
Both speakers appear under Settings → Audio.
When I attempt to “Enable” or play to them, Roon says “No audio devices found.”

Would really appreciate help getting my music back!

Good day @Steffan_Dye !

I hope you’re doing well today.

First thing we recommend you to try is to clear endpoints cache:

Note: Deleting these files will

  • Log you out of Tidal/Qobuz
  • Delete your endpoint names.
  • Delete saved DSP configs.

If this doesn’t help, please restore the backup you made before trying these steps.

  • The other thing worth trying is to disable QoS (if it is enabled).

  • Also, please make sure that your mesh nodes are set to the bridging mode.

  • And you can try to clear arp cache on nuc executing command

netsh interface ip delete arpcache

and on router by simply restarting it, but better let it stay cold for another minute or 2 before restarting.

Let us know please whether those advices are helpful to you.

Regards.

Helpful. Thank you. I deleted the files in Registry/Core/ but that did not help so I restored from backup. I have moved my NUC back to wifi so it is no longer attached to the XT8 via ethernet. I confirmed that QoS is OFF. The nodes are set to Wireless Router Mode. Note that this whole system worked perfectly for a couple of years. I moved to a new home and it was working fine again. I connected my NUC via ethernet to see if that would help stability. It did not. When I went back to wi-fi, this problem started. So, right now, I have two speakers that show up as “Roon Ready.” But I can’t play from either because it says, " No audio devices found." Any ideas from here?

Hello @Steffan_Dye

Thank you for the update.

Let’s do the following:

  1. Go to the Roon → Settings → Audio. Disable all devices that you have active via the 3 dots menu.
  2. Exit from the Roon server using the taskbar and click Quit.
  3. Open the Process Manager and make sure that there is no Roon or RAAT process active.
  4. Navigate to /Roon/Database/Registry/Core/
  5. Delete all files in the directory and make sure that all the files with 170180f547a87e77807d560f7be92b3e7d58 in the name are removed from the folder.
  6. Restart your PC.
  7. Open Roon and enable the device via the Settings → Audio again.

Let us know how it goes after that.

This worked! Thank you!!!

Good day @Steffan_Dye !

Thanks for confirming!

Then we are closing this thread as solved.

Have a nice day!

Regards.

Hey @alex-h

appreciate your help on this. The fix seems to have a caused a new problem, though. I can’t access roon on my phone or my ipad now. They both say, “Waiting for your Roon Server…”

Any idea how can fix that given what I just did?

should have said @alex_h !

Hello @Steffan_Dye

Do you see the “Choose another Roon server” or “Unauthorize” buttons on your remotes?

Can you please reinstall the Roon app on the mobile devices and check how it goes after?

This worked. Thank you!

New problem: Roon Arc app on my iphone isn’t connecting now, too. It says, “Roon Server Offline”. Should I delete and reinstall the app for that too, you think?

Thank you!!

Hi @Steffan_Dye,

When you restore from a Backup or otherwise remake your RoonServer, ARC’s session token goes stale; ARC is still looking for the old RoonServer, not the new one.

The solution is to just reinstall ARC, like you suggested.

The team is working on a more graceful workaround for keeping ARC connected/synced when you restore a Backup.

This worked. Thank you!!

Hi @Steffan_Dye ,

Glad to hear that the reinstall worked, this is wonderful news. Happy listening!
