Roon Server crashes after recent update causing connection issues and affecting network (ref#UTJI9I)

I dont think its a coincidence. Its now been nearly 24 hours and im out at work streaming via ARC and its going great.

I will try to reintroduce a ropieee in one at a time to see if i have a rogue PI.

I have 2 connected directly to my router and 2 connected via a wifi extender.

I will let you know as and when it started to fail

Hi @vadim , well it seems ive narrowed down the issue to ropieee instances acting as extensions for a display.

My system will work fine and have zero issues if i run roon with no ropieee displays connected to the network. The minute i connect a ropieee instance acting as a display, roon server errors and goes down.

@spockfish took a look at the logs i sent him as part of this thread

And said he couldnt see anything odd aside from the extension not finding the roon core.

He suggested i delete all the extension authorisations i had (which i did) . I then reconnected the ropieee display unit and i didnt even have chance to go in and reauthorise my extension as roon died there and then.

Coild something have changed in this last release around the way extensions speak to roon?

Update. I disconnected the wired ethernet connection and connected the display ropieee via wifi. Then went into roon and authorised the extension.

And so far its now running just fine. Been an hour.

The odd thing is its the same wifi extender connection.. just now wireless with a different ip allocation.

As in a device you plug into the mains electricity? If so, that could be the cause of your problems.

Oh no. Not those terrible things…

Its this:

But i have a second ropieee used for zone display that was connected via ethernet cable directly to the router too. And that was causing exactly the same issues.

Again, i switched them both over to wifi and its all now running smoothly…so far at least :crossed_fingers:

Hey @Andrew_Egginton1,

Thank you for the additional information! We’ll share it with development - let us know how things perform over the weekend. :folded_hands:

Hi @Andrew_Egginton1,

We wanted to check in to see how networked playback has performed with Roon now that some time has passed.

We’ll watch for a response. Thanks!
