I have a Sony Google TV that shows album art and lyrics when I play to a zone in the same room (DMP-A8). All is well unless the TV is in a screen-saver mode, then starting a song will crash the Roon server. If I disable lyrics display the song will play just fine.
Describe your network setup
TP-Link Deco mesh wifi. TV and DMP-A8 connected via wired ethernet.
Yes - it was Saturday afternoon (8/10/24) about 4-5PM EDT. We were trying to play Phil Collins “In The Air Tonight”. Playback would start, then the app (on my android phone) would spin and finally say “waiting for Roon server”. It was only after I turned off lyrics on the screen associated with this zone did playback complete successfully.
The TV was in screen-saver mode. If the TV is in this mode, I don’t care if Roon cannot display lyrics, so don’t take this as a “wake the screen up” demand. Just turn off lyrics and don’t crash!
The “about this TV” section on the TV itself says:
Model: BRAVIA 4K VH22
Android TV OS Version: 10
Android TV OS security patch level: April 1, 2024
Kernel Version: 4.19.75 #1 Thu May 30 04:22:16 JST 2024
I can run a browser on my PC (Win11) and an Android tablet and display lyrics there, but they are not in screen-saver mode.
I do not have a browser installed on my TV.
I think the key is the screen-saver mode. If it is not in that mode, lyrics and album art display just fine.
Could this have anything to do with the fact that I am running Roon on a Synology?
