Describe the issue

Roon Server Visible But Won't Connect

Describe your network setup

Ethernet through Dell PowerConnect 2824

I’m a long-time Roon user and recently wanted to try out a Nucleus+ that a friend is looking to sell. As a favor, he “reset” the Nucleus+ before handing it off to me. It has no internal storage although the issue I’m seeing happens even when I’ve plugged a USB drive into it.
The server web page is visible and the Roon Remotes (both desktop and mobile) can see the server and it reports as being initialized and ready (green dot). However, when hitting “connect” i get the “Waiting for your Roon Server” reply with no end in sight.
I have downloaded the latest firmware, reset the database, etc all to no avail.
I have Roon servers that I can spin up on the same network both from a QNAP NAS and from Mac Mini that work perfectly so I’m pretty confident it’s not the switch or the remotes.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Can you post a screenshot of the Web Administration Interface page of the Nucleus? Thanks.

Sure. Here it is

Yup - that Nucleus is running “Early Access” software builds, and I’ll bet that you are running “Production Builds” in your Roon setup.

You will need to move the Nucleus on to a Production Build if you want to connect to it.

See the section on moving a Nucleus from Early Access back to Production in this article…

BTW, once you’ve connected to the Nucleus, you’ll need to add the USB storage as a Watched Folder manually - it doesn’t get added by default, unlike internal storage.

Fantastic. Now for the silly question:
How does one navigate to the Data/Reinstall folder? I tried adding that to URL of the web admin page, but I get a “not found” error

Nope - not via the Web - you do it via Windows File Explorer (if you are using Windows) or the Mac Finder (if you are using a Mac).

See:

If it’s a Nucleus, type \\Nucleus in the address field of Windows File Explorer, or \\Nucleusplus if it’s a Nucleus+

Thank you very much. All working perfectly.
