Roon Server says 'No Displays Available'

Describe your network setup

My setup:

PC running Roon Server

NAD T778

Sonos Play 1

All my devices are hardwired into the router/switch.

roon3

I am busy evaluating Roon for my AV setup, and so far it’s great - everything works as it should (I think), but the Web Display does not, not even on the PC on which the server is running!

Using localhost, local IP, or DHCP IP makes no difference.
When I click on the Volume icon, there is no Display option, and in the Server, it says ‘No Displays Available’.

How do I get this to work?

Thanks

I see that you are using the Zone on the T778. Do you have another Zone setup to see if the Display icon will appear there? So it doesn’t appear on the PC’s System Output Zone either?

Your screenshot showing the Roon display in your web browser, when that is active, do you see it as an entry in Roon’s :gear: > Displays screen, for example, like this:

Hi, I don’t think I’m using zones on my T778?

The ‘Display’ option does not appear for any output, I’ve enabled all of them, disabled all of them, still nothing.

The server PC has been rebooted multiple times as well.

The screenshot is all I see, it doesn’t change.

But you posted this screenshot:

I assumed that this was showing the Zone set up on your T778 - is it not?

And you say that even when you have the web display active in the web browser on your PC, that it does not then appear as an entry in Roon’s :gear: > Displays screen (as I showed)?

No, this is just the icon I chose for the T778.

Yes, even when I’m on the server PC, there are no Displays showing, as in my earlier screenshot.

Roon (Server) provides an http (web) server component for bi-directional communication with displays. We know that the http server component works because of your screenshot (the browser can read content from the http server component). We do not know why your browser can’t communicate back (send/write back information) correctly to the http server component. So as I see it, this is not a Roon issue. The issue is with your (PC) setup somewhere. So far we don’t know details about your setup (OS, browser and installed extensions, other software that might block or change communication back to the http server component). So what can you do to troubleshoot and resolve your issue (besides providing the missing information for a chance someone might spot an issue in there)?

  • Check your firewall settings
  • Disable (security) browser extensions as a test
  • Install an alternative browser as a test
  • Check your hosts file (should be empty or non-existent)
  • Disable security software on your PC one by one as a test

An output is called a zone in Roon

Think of a zone as a room in your house, or as an audio device that you use to play music.

Thanks, firewall was already greenlit for roon.exe, roonserver.exe, raatserver.exe.

However, it looks like the BitDefender Web Protection utility was blocking access - once I added these to the exceptions, the Displays worked.

thank a lot!
