I have it with my remotes if they are on their own vlan (1). Roon stuff is on another vlan (2). If I s connect with the remotes to vlan 2 everything is fine. Even the fact that vlan 1 is allowed to vlan 2 makes no difference. Since the last update this problem occurs. But not always. I would say 90% of the time. I can ping my server from vlan 1 to vlan 2 (which is correct according to my firewall rules)
Do you use different vlans?
Can you ping your server or connect to it in a browser with the ip adres?
To help you get your Nucleus back online, we need to see what is happening at the hardware level.
Please connect your Nucleus to a TV or monitor using the HDMI port on the back of the unit. Once connected, power the Nucleus on and take a photo of whatever text or error messages appear on the screen. This “Command Line” view will tell us if the Operating System is loading correctly or if there is a hardware failure (like a drive issue) preventing the server from starting. Please share that photo here!
While it may seem like the same issue, your situation is quite different as it involves a complex network configuration.
Roon relies heavily on Multicast traffic for discovery between the Remote and the Server. Cross-VLAN communication is notorious for stripping or blocking these Multicast packets unless your network equipment (firewall/switches) is perfectly configured with an mDNS reflector/repeater and proper IGMP snooping.
Even if you can “ping” the server (Unicast), it doesn’t mean the Roon discovery packets (Multicast) are making it across the VLAN boundary. Since Roon is designed to work on a single flat subnet, we strongly recommend keeping your Remotes and Server on the same VLAN to ensure stability.
If you wish to resolve your specific issue, please create a separate thread so that we can track your diagnostics independently of any potential hardware issue with Monti equipment.
The BIOS settings are accessible and are set as they should be. Still stuck on welcome to Grub! Page when trying to boot from the USB stick. However, as a test we tried to boot into Windows from a different USB stick. This showed the install screen so I can only assume the BIOS needs updating? Or that the ROCK/Roon OS file is not working. Please could you send me the BIOS for this unit and the file for the Roon OS as I think that will be the easiest way to ensure I have the correct information.
Please keep an eye out for a response via email with our hardware team.
