Thanks for reaching out! I’ve activated diagnostics for your Nucleus and can confirm that the diagnostics package came in. I do see some disconnects, but the reason for the disconnects is unclear, though it did look like you were close to using all the available RAM and then an ARC sync occurred. Does the issue only happen when you use ARC with the Nucleus? If you try to perform an Operating System reinstall via the button in your screenshot, does that help restore stability?
Hi Nori’s,
Thx for reaching out. I got the N1 yesterday and had some problems with backup from my NUC. I just had a disconnection 25 minutes ago but now it looks like all my music is back and no background systems are working regarding import.
In my eagerness of getting the N1 up and running I forgot to disconnect my NUC with ROCK. Are you able to help from your side?
Another thing is that I can’t download to ARC. ARC has always been good to me but with the N1 downloading is an issue. When I disconnect ARC and connect again I get two N1 servers, one seen 4 hours ago, and one active. Also my old Roon Rock server, seen 2 hours ago, shows up. Are you able to delete the ones I don’t use?
I just lost my server again. This is not funny
I have reinstalled a couple of times and nothing is changing.
After a reboot of N1 everything looked ok and music was playing. I stopped the music and was planning to make a new backup because of new device. the screenshot is what I got. Please help me out.
Thanks for your post. As long as you still have at least one reliable Backup of the database you intend to migrate from the ROCK to the Nucleus One, you shouldn’t have lost any data despite the message above. There’s always a possibility the Backup itself was corrupted, but the more likely culprit here is that you’ve inadvertently installed overlapping RoonServer machines across these devices and this network during migration. .
Let’s try a few steps to sort things out.
First, verify that you still have your Backups in a secure, accessible location not hosted on the ROCK or the Nucleus One. You can do this outside of Roon by double-checking for Roon backup files in the location you’ve set as your scheduled or manual Backup destination.
Once you’ve double checked you have a Backup that you can safely restore, then open up the ROCK Web Administration page (not the RoonOS in the Nucleus). Make sure you use the IP of the ROCK.
Navigate to the RoonServer Database Location of the Nucleus using a file browser on a computer on your network
Find the folder that says “RoonServer” and it to “RoonServer_old”
Restart the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new RoonServer Database
On any of the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database
Now, connect to your network share location or the USB drive hosting your Backups. Also connect your local storage. Attempt to restore the most recent Backup. If this doesn’t work, repeat steps 4-7 and then try the second-most-recent Backup.
Let us know if this helps. We’ll examine the diagnostics available.
My backup is on a USB stick directly attached to the N1. How do I check the backup outside of Roon? The ROCK is no longer connected but I can reconnect it. In step 3 you say RoonServer not running. Is this on the N1 or ROCK? And do I turn off the server before I repower on the N1?
Navigate to the RoonServer Database Location of the Nucleus using a file browser on a computer on your network
Find the folder that says “RoonServer” and it to “RoonServer_old”
Start the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new RoonServer Database
On any of the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database
Restore from backup on the USB drive
Try to reboot the Nucleus One and create a new backup and check to see if the corruption error persists|
Note: Corruption checking is a periodic process but it mandatorily occurs when trying to create a new backup. If you reboot your Nucleus, it is possible that the corruption still exists, but it will temporarily be hidden until the next backup or periodic corruption check. It is imperative to try to create a new backup to ensure system stability.
hi Noris,
just finished a restore from backup and the system is doing some background work. I will try to reboot and create a backup.
Is there a way to remove ROON ROCK and get Nucleus One instead. This shows up after the restore of the backup. My OCD needs to remove ROON ROCK:)
If I reinstall Operating System will anything happened to my system?
Thx!
@benjamin
I have a backup from February and I will try that one. What to do if that one also is corrupted? I tell you when it’s done so you can check if it’s okay or not. Sounds good?
To put it simply, database corruption means that the records Roon is reading from your database are different from what was originally written.
This is rare and has innumerable causes, usually physical, like failing hard drives or an unstable power source (frequent outages, hard power cuts, etc). In some cases, corrupt database records can go completely undetected. Roon constantly scans for evidence of database corruption, but latent corruption can accumulate over time.
If you restore from your second-most-recent Backup and still see “There was an issue loading your database”, try restoring from your oldest Backup and then work forward.
We’ll of course be available to review diagnostics once we hear back. Thank you for the report.
@connor this is my oldest backup. How come this is not happening when the automatic backup, once a month, is running?
And what is the problem with the server disconnecting all the time? This is a brand new N1 and I bought it because I thought it would be trouble free.
Based on another fresh diagnositc report, it may be pointing to a USB drive failing - more specifically, your Kingston DataTraveler 3.0 : /
See the below error trace:
Debug: [RemotingServerV2] [broker/backups] getting restore items for location: FileBrowser.Entry: ROCK, Kingston DataTraveler 3.0 : /
Warn: [Broker:Misc] [backup] getrestoreitems, manifest file is corrupt: b_20240222105851_a29a98bc-8a56-4e65-bcb3-3d9b4be6a78e - System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
As a next step in testing, are you able to save a backup to a different USB drive, and see if you run into the same issue?
@noris@benjamin@connor , hello again! Any news about the disconnecting server? After the latest backup Roon are removing all of my Qobuz albums. What is going on here. Sorry to say but I’m getting tired of trouble. This needs to be fixed.
this is the message I get trying to backup to a new SanDisk Ultra USB 3.2 Gen 1 Flash Drive 256GB. You told me to try a new one. I think that I have spent enough money on this and now it’s time for you to do something. This is not working. Sorry but I’m loosing patience
