Roon Server migration to Macbook Pro causing connection issues (ref#H24EK9)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

Tell us what's going on

· I have been running Roon Server on my Windows laptop for 5 plus years with no issues. I have just bought a new Macbook Pro M5 to replace it and I was trying to move Roon Server to the Mac. I made a database backup on the Windows PC and disconnected the Server. I had a few attempts at getting Roon onto the Mac and now I get the following window when I open the app. When I click on connect, the spinning logo just goes on for ever. Not sure what to do. I have uninstalled the app several times with no success.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello @Chris_Robinson

Congratulations on the new MacBook Pro M5! Also, just a heads-up: your screenshot didn’t come through in your message.

To fix the spinning logo loop and allow for a clean restore, please follow these steps to rename your current database folder on the Mac:

  1. Quit Roon completely.
  2. In Finder, click Go in the top menu bar, hold the Option key, and select Library.
  3. Rename the folder RoonServer to RoonServer_old.
  4. Launch Roon again.

Now Roon should start as if for the first time. Don’t set up a new library—instead, click “Restore from Backup” on the login screen and point it to the backup you made on your Windows PC.

Please try this and let me know if it breaks the loop!
