Describe the issue

I’m a lifetime member and am having no luck getting Roon core on my laptop. It’s the same core i3 that I have used for the core for almost 5 years and the issue has been going on since December 8 of last year. My laptop screen shows waiting for the server as it has done for some time, but I’ve been able to use my iPad remote, nevertheless. But since December 8 of last year (my 70th birthday) I’ve only had a brief period on Friday and Saturday that I was able to use Roon. In anticipation, Marcus Vietri.

Can you post a screenshot of what your Roon screen is showing on your laptop? Thank you.

That post of an image didn’t work - please try again

Hi @marcus_vietri,
Thanks for writing in to ask us about this issue. I think the best way to proceed with troubleshooting is to take a look at your Roon logs. Can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

In the meantime what happens when you press the choose a different Roon Server button that you show in your screenshots? Do any Roon servers show up in the list? Our records indicate that your Roon server was active 4 days ago. Also if you are intendsign to use that laptop as your Roon server do you see the Roon icon in your taskbar in the lower right corner when you expand it like this?

Correct. Was able to connect briefly from Friday morning until Saturday afternoon and then experienced a power outage and the entire house was down. Have had no luck since.

I’m still having no luck getting Roon server to work. I have, received multiple emails from @Geoff_Coupe and @daniel and automated emails from your website, meanwhile Tidal runs flawlessly through the WiiM Pro (which is Roon Ready) using Tidal connect…

I find it frustrating that something that worked so well for so long has become redundant, especially since I have lifetime membership. Hopefully you guys can get it sorted.

I simply cannot afford a new laptop or Roon Core of some other kind.
Yours sincerely, Marcus Vietri (another retired old fart).

@marcus_vietri, I understand your frustration, but please don’t open a new thread when you aleady have an active support ticket.

Accordingly, I am merging the content of this thread, and closing.

Thank you.

Hey @marcus_vietri,

Thanks so much for your patience here!

A few areas to review:

  1. Windows firewall - are you able to temporarily disable your firewall, and see if you’re able to connect?
  2. ‘Select a different Roon Server’ - if you click this option, are you able to see your available server?
  3. If you use a different device other than your same Windows 10 (like your iPad) do you still run into the same issue?
  4. Reboot your router, and see if you’re able to connect afterward.
  5. Set up a direct ethernet connection from your router to your Windows machine running Roon Server.

We should be able to get you back up and running shortly!
