Roon server not running after QNAP HS453DX firmware update (ref#HYN261)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Can’t reach my Server, remotes or ARC

Can’t connect to my Server, remotes or ARC

· Other ARC issues

Tell us what's going on

· Roon server Stopped after qnap HS453DX firmware update. Set up Container Station, follow docker instructions, it's running but server still stopped. Tried other music playing software, it works in no time. I just renewed which I can't used Roon at all.

Tell us about your home network

· Orbi router, Qnap HS453DX, no VPN.

I did deleted the NAS roon and install again, nothing changed, server still stopped.

For the third time now: The old Roon Server Application is no longer working!

Hence the effort to install Roon Server in Docker instead. There is no point in looking at the configuration window of the old app, much less reinstalling the old app and expecting to see anything else than “Stopped” for the status.

I get that you are trying to help, but if you can’t reply in a different tone then I suggest to leave it for Roon support.

Many users have no clue what a docker is and what the difference is between what they had and what they are moving to.

@BlackJack
Thank you for all your messages for all those people that were running Roon on their QNAP and got stuck after the latest update. It is incredible how much users you were able to help!!!
Kind regards and much respect, Frank.

Hello @Moonshiner @Yu_Alex

The native Roon Server application for QNAP has been deprecated and will no longer start.

Please perform the following steps to get back online:

  • Install Container Station: Ensure you have the Container Station app installed from the QNAP App Center.
  • Deploy the Docker Image: Follow the official Roon guide to set up the Roon Server Docker image.
  • Disable the Old App: Go to your QNAP App Center and manually Stop or Disable the old Roon Server app to prevent it from interfering with the new setup.
  • Select New Server: Once the Docker container is running, open your Roon Remote app and click Select a different Roon Server.
  • Authorize: Choose the new server instance and log in. You will need to “unauthorize” the previous native QNAP installation to move your license to the new Docker core.

Provide an update once you have attempted to connect to the new server instance.

Will try tonight and feedback hows it goes. Thank you.

Tried, it works according your direction. Thank you. But the the audio output only show 4 HDMI and 1 analog out, can’t see USB and can’t link to my DAC. Still need to fix that.

Did you activate the option to use USB DACs?

If not, please recreate (Container Station > Applications from the Actions cogwheel choose + Recreate) the Docker application with the option activated.

Thanks for the tips. I recreate and repasted Yama code, and DAC shown up. Finally everything fix and runs smoothly. Thank for all your help.
