· The other day I revised my Synology NAS login credentials. Since then, I’m unable to get Roon Server on my M1 Mac Mini to accept my new login credentials to my Synology NAS. I have 2 Roon network shares on my NAS; 1 for the music library and the other for Roon backups.

· I have an Araknis AN-310-RT-4L2W router. My Roon saver is a M1 Mac mini and its hardwired to my network
I understand the challenge here. Whenever NAS login credentials are changed, it is sometimes necessary to refresh that authentication directly at the operating system level so that all applications can securely access the drives.
For a Roon Server running on a Mac Mini, the most reliable approach is to mount the Synology NAS directly within macOS and then point Roon to that local mount point. This allows macOS to securely handle the new credentials via its Keychain.
Here is how to seamlessly update your setup without losing your database import dates or triggering a full rescan:
Mount the Synology NAS in macOS:
Open Finder on your Mac Mini.
Press Cmd + K (or select Go > Connect to Server from the top menu bar).
Enter the address for your Synology share (e.g., smb://[Your_Synology_IP_Address]/[Your_Music_Share_Name]) and click Connect.
When prompted, enter your new credentials and make sure to check the box to Remember this password in my keychain.
Repeat this exact process for your backup share.
Edit the Path in Roon (Do Not Delete the Old Share):
Important: Do not remove or disable your existing storage folders, as this will trigger a library rescan.
Open Roon and navigate to Settings > Storage.
Find your existing Synology network share and click the three dots next to it, then select Edit.
Click the Edit button to change the folder location.
In the Roon file browser, navigate to your newly mounted Synology drive. To do this, click the / (root) directory link at the top left, then open the Volumes folder. You will see your mounted NAS share listed there.
Select your music folder and click Save.
Roon will now securely access the files through the macOS mount point. Repeat this “Edit > Browse > /Volumes/…” process in Settings > Backups for your backup location.
I had to find the old passwords in Keychain again. I deleted them and it looks like it’s working now. I appreciate the help. Thank you for your support.
