For Roon connectivity to work properly, both Roon Server and Roon Remote need to be turned on.
· I can't turn on Roon Server, I need help.
Describe the issue
Since renewing a briefly expired Roon subscription, the Roon server status on my NAS is "stopped". There is no option to start it though the Roon server app on my QNAP NAS. My remotes are in continuous "Waiting for Roon Server..." status. There is no issue with my firewall and I do not run a VPN. I cannot manage Roon through the remote instances as they are stuck waiting for the server. Please help.
Describe your network setup
QNAP TV-471 hard-wired by ethernet to Asus ROG Rapture GT-BE98 Pro router. Roon remotes connect Home network by WiFi 6. Nothing has changed for several months. Was working perfectly until my subscription expired, then renewed.
Hi @mwaggener, welcome to the community. Since your Roon Server is on a QNAP NAS, the most likely issue is that the server package needs to be reinstalled or started under the current QNAP container setup rather than through the regular app screen.
Please check two things first:
Open QNAP’s Container Station and confirm that the Roon Server container exists and is not paused or stopped.
If it is missing, or if it will not start, reinstall it using our QNAP guide here: Installing RoonServer on QNAP with Docker.
If the container is present but still will not launch, let us know what Container Station shows for its status, and whether you see any error message when you try to start it. A screenshot of that page would help as well. We can take the next step from there.
