Roon Server refuses to start [Resolved]

Suddenly my Roon Server refuses to start. No error messages, just nothing happens.

Running Win 10, version 1.3 build 222

Where do I look for messages ? c:\Users<user>\AppData\Local\RoonServer\Logs\ is empty …

@bwa Did your Windows System recently updated? Did an AV or Firewall got enabled or installed?

@Tech_Whisky_Lab No, it’s my server, with no known changes for a long time

Should I just uninstall and reinstall ? Does the Roon Server retain my config during a reinstall?

I am not a Windows user so I wont be able to answer that. Its a bit drastic to do that in my opinion…

To help me better evaluate this behavior you are reporting to us, may I kindly ask you to please provide the following:

  1. An expanded description of your setup as seen here.

  2. Some further insight into this this issue? Things to consider:

  • Have you always had this problem with RoonServer?

  • If not, can you think of when it started?

  • Were any changes made to your setup before encountering the issue?

  • What troubleshooting have performed thus far? What were the results of your tests?

Googling that error code seems to point to a possible virus/malware infection? Alternatively, your HDD/SSD may be becoming flaky - have you run an error check on it?

I reinstalled the RoonServer, problem gone …

For now?
Lets hope it does not come back! :smiley:
