Thanks for taking the time to write in and share your report! Can you share a bit more detail about the issue process?
For example, when you mention ‘play music again’ - does the initial start up and playback function normally, followed by issues later on? Or, do you put your iMac to sleep and you encounter issues after waking it up?
Two things to investigate further would be:
Mac firewall - can you ensure Roon is listed as proper exceptions within your mac firewall, and any other antivirus software you may have active? Here’s more info on this: https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/firewall
Set up a hardwired ethernet connection directly to your primary router and see if your issue persists.
We’e seen network timeouts in the past result in similar behavior, setting up an ethernet connection with your Roon Server machine provides a much more stable connection. Certainly let me know if this would be possible for you to test, even if temporarily.
Does this issue happen no matter the remote device? I see both an iPad and iPhone setup as Roon remotes, if you attempt to play to the system output of either device, do you see the same issue?
If you could reproduce the issue and share the specific track name, and then please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
For some reason I can’t set them up as outputs. Playing to the Node is impossible no matter which Remote I use, including the machine on which the Server is installed.
Sorry your issues persist! From your account settings, it seems that your Roon Server machine is registering multiple IP’s, which can cause confusion within Roon.
Roon is only able to function across a single subnet within a local network, as a next step I would either disable one of your other subnets, or access your router settings and device list to ensure that all your Roon devices are functioning on the same local subnet - endpoints included.
Any information you can provide around your comment above? What changed that allowed you to access your endpoints and stream audio?
If you haven’t yet, can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.
The only thing I could see that might be a problem – I am not a networks specialist – was that ipv4 and ipv6 were both activated. I have disabled ipv6 so now we’ll see if that works.
Nothing changed, other than me restarting the Server, which is part of what makes this strange.
I’ve done this now.
Ok so now I have changed two things which means that it’ll be harder to know what worked if it did, but we’ll see if this works. Thank you.
This raises another question which i discussed on this board before the acquisition: are these details collected and stored according to the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?
Before the acquisition, nobody would confirm to me that they were, leading to the only reasonable conclusion that they weren’t. But I suppose that things are different now with the new owner?
