Roon Server running on a modern iPad Pro

Here is why I would like to have the Roon Server running on a modern iPad Pro:

Currently, my Roon Server is running on a high quality custom silent fanless AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G Windows 11 PC, heat pipe cooling, with Fidelizer 11.

This has been my solution for several years and works great, provides audiophile sound.

However, this computer is starting to get old and may need to be repaired or replaced in the near future.

Personally, I have moved all of my activities to the Apple ecosystem, iPhones and iPad pro.

So it would be convenient if I could run Roon Server on a modern iPad Pro M2 or M4 chips, for example… with iOS 18

I only need it to run one hour a day.

So I can leave it plugged in, and dedicate an older or spare unit to this job so that roon could run in the foreground.

Let’s say that I use a Belkin 60W USB-C to Ethernet + Charge Adapter - Gigabit Ethernet Port so that I can leave the unit plugged in and have wired ethernet as well.

So I’m hoping that a Roon engineer or technical expert, can then answer the question of whether in these conditions, one could achieve high-quality playback.

Also, I think others would find it useful to have this capability, it would extend the ease of use for many others as well.

Hi Danny commented on this … see below…

Thank you for the reply

And that is why I suggested using a spare unit in foreground mode

I understand that there would be some work involved in doing this, but many people might benefit. Maybe someone could do a survey to check this…

Get a Mac Mini. I bought a late 2014 for $200. It’s foolish to wish for something that will probably never happen.

My current system is very nice and is only four years old, so hopefully it will keep working for me.

I do think that it is appropriate to ask for this kind of iOS compatibility going forward.
