Roon Server Software Not Running after ffmpeg Update (ref#7NJPT7)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

Tell us what's going on

· CODEC Copied ffmpeg (yes, unzipped) into folder, now it tells me "Roon Server Software, Not Running". I have reinstalled OS and tried multiple copies with no luck. Reading online people say it’s a permission issue but I can't ssh into fix this. What do I do?

· This should have nothing to do with my issue, its all Ubiquiti and hardwired.

Hi @tom4

Mostly likely Roon Server is running on ROCK, there’s a known issue with the RoonOS status display.

There’s also a separate known issue where Roon Remote running on Mac’s (I think only affecting Mac’s with Intel CPUs).

As a troubleshooting step, do you have Roon Remote (not ARC) available on a non-Mac device (Windows PC or a maybe a phone) if so could you see if that can connect to the Roon Server running on ROCK?

If that connects it will confirm Roon Server on ROCK is actually running.

Roon Core is actually running on a dedicated HP Elitedesk 800 G4 mini PC.

Noted, so it’s a “MOCK” installation.

Have you tried to connect to Roon Server with Roon Remote yet to confirm that Roon Server is running?

PS use a tablet, phone or Window PC device if possible (rather than a Mac).

Yes, I guess you would call it “MOCK”. I am conncted with my remote and no issues. I was just trying to see if this was really an issue or a bug guess. Runs beautifully on this so I am leaning toward just a bug showing that status.

Hi @tom4,

Thanks for confirming that Roon Remote is connected and playback is working normally. That lines up with what you were seeing, and it does sound like a status bug rather than a real problem with Roon Server itself.

The latest release that should fix this is now out, so please update and let us know if it helps. Once you have a chance to try it, we can take it from there.

Looks good after update. Thank you!
