Roon Server software reboots every 20 seconds despite troubleshooting attempts (ref#K0HW1G)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Roon is slow, freezing or won’t start

Roon is slow, freezing or won’t start

· Roon won’t start up at all

Tell us what's going on

· Roon Server Software reboots exactly every 20 seconds. I tried reinstalling the Operating System, restarting the Server Software, and resetting the Roon Database. Nothing works and it is completely bricked

Tell us about your home network

· eero mesh network. Roon used to work, I made no changes to the network, then it suddenly stopped working. It runs on a Nucleus One that is barely four weeks old

Hi @Stefan_Zorn,

Our diagnostic servers indicate that RoonOS is active and running on this machine, but the Roon Server instance itself hasn’t been seen in over a week.

Can you please share a screenshot of the Nucleus web admin page, if you’re able to reach it from a browser?

If you’re not able to reach the web admin, what do you see when you connect the HDMI output of the unit to a TV or monitor?

The reason why you don’t see the Server instance online is because it reboots every 20 seconds. The it shows offline for 1-2 seconds, then running again for 20 seconds

Hey @Stefan_Zorn,

Thanks for the update and screenshot. It would be good to attempt to review a set of manual Roon Server logs from the Nucleus. I’ll share steps on how to gather and share them with us below:

Can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of Roon Server logs to our File Uploader? Once logs have been uploaded, please let us know so that we can check the server for your files, thanks!

I just submitted the logs

Thanks for that @Stefan_Zorn, unfortunately the logs you sent over did not contain any informaiton (they were infact all 0 bytes, other than Roonlog_20)

The next step in troubleshooting is connecting the Nucleus to a monitor via HDMI, and review any error codes that present themselves.

We’ll be awaiting your reply and results, thank you!

I just renamed the folder to RoonServer again and launched the Roon Server again. I got the following information in the only log file that was updated:

06/30 00:13:39 Info: Starting RoonServer v2.67 (build 1661) production on linuxx64
06/30 00:13:39 Info: Local time is 06/30/2026 00:13:39, UTC time is 06/30/2026 00:13:39

06/30 00:13:39 Debug: Init DefaultBackingApi: HttpWebRequest

Hello @Stefan_Zorn

The best next step here is to get in touch with our RMA department directly, as they’re in charge of all hardware-related Nucleus issues. To do so, open the Typeform link below and select ‘Other’ followed by 'This issue is related to a physical component".

Typeform link : Nucleus Troubleshooting

They’ll help get you sorted out moving forward. Thanks! :+1:

I have submitted it to the hardware team. Can you please let me know why you think this is a hardware issue? The server is installed, I can access it, it boots up, just fails after 20 seconds. That sounds more like a hardware issue to me. Can we wipe the system clean and reinstall it again?

Hi @Stefan_Zorn

Thanks for the update. The RMA team is not only resolving the hardware issues in our case, but also reinstalling Roon OS. Essentially, the next step here would be to install ROCK OS on your Nucleus processor, test for stability, and contact our RMA department to discuss the next step for a remote OS reinstall for Roon OS.

@RMA team - PLEASE HELP!!! We have been exchanging messages here for days and every time I am waiting for many hours to get a response. This is not going anywhere. Someone please help!!!

I cannot reinstall Rock OS as the Balena Etcher process failed and I do not have a keyboard to connect to the Nucleus.

Hi @Stefan_Zorn,

I see you’re in communication with the team via our RMA support thread, so I’ll go ahead and close this thread out while we continue to work with you via your RMA email. Thank you. :+1:

HELP!!! I have been posting here for almost a week. my Nucleaus One is a month old, completely bricked and I am getting no help!!!

The RMA team is not responding. who can actually help me?

@benjamin,

Something is not right here … I’ve reopened this topic … can you step in please to help @Stefan_Zorn

Hello! Anyone there? I still have a brand new Nucleus that worked for 3 weeks and is now bricked and no one is able to help?

Hi @Stefan_Zorn, thanks for being so on top of this issue. We’re sorry for the delay in getting back to you; our team has been out of office to observe a national holiday.

When it comes to RMA related requests, that process is handled entirely via email. Since you’re already in communication with our RMA team, we’ll close this support request to avoid any further confusion.

Please, keep an eye on your inbox. You’ll hear from our RMA team via email next. :folded_hands:

Hi @Stefan_Zorn,

We’ve also responded over email but wanted to ping you here to ensure you saw our response.

We recognize this is frustrating, but we’re not able to locate an actual photo of the HDMI output of the Nucleus on a monitor/display in any of your responses above or via email. We’ll need this information to proceed, because it will illuminate whether the motherboard and network interface are functional.

Please share this information at your convenience or point us to the place we’ve missed it above and we’ll immediately respond. Thank you!
