It’s been quite some time since my last post on the Roon community board. Over the past months, I’ve had to navigate some personal challenges, but despite that, I’ve done my best to keep the NAS apps across all platforms running smoothly and continue providing an easy way to install Roon Server.

For a long time, Roon users have been running RoonServer in self-managed environments beyond the traditional desktop path - on Linux servers, home labs, NAS systems, and custom-built machines. Those setups are more common than ever, and we are now making that path official.
The official RoonServer Docker image is now available, and Docker is now our recommended and supported deployment path for self-managed server environments.

But Docker based installation is too difficult for me.
Maybe I should migrate to a NUC-based setup.

Thanks for reaching out. Yes, with the new requirements, you’ll unfortunately have to run Roon in Docker moving forward. We’ve tried to simplify the installation procedure as much as possible and have created a guide with screenshots. Please take a look, perhaps you’ll not find it as difficult after reviewing the information:
