The Roon Server package no longer works, please switch to the official Docker image to run Roon Server on your NAS. See also:

Hello @stephen_tai,

It looks like you’ve been hit by the recent compatibility shift on QNAP. BlackJack is spot on here—the native QPKG app is no longer supported due to outdated system libraries on the NAS.

Please follow the link he provided to set up the official Docker image via Container Station. This is the definitive path forward for QNAP users to get back online with the latest version of Roon.

Give that a try, and if you run into any snags during the setup, just update us here and we’ll help you through it!

Thanks Vadim! After consulting my Qnap’s engineer, My Qnap model No. is TVS-682, and this model have the following capacity:

  • x86_64 / amd64 processor. ARM is not supported.

  • 4 GB RAM minimum.

  • SSD-backed storage is strongly recommended for the Roon database.

One more thing before installing which I am concerned is :

After installing RoonServer on QNAP with Container Station, my original Roon server library will the same as before, because it takes much time to edit my library.

@BlackJack Thanks your reply, how to install Container Station?

From App Center. If it doesn’t work for you, please consult QNAP customer support resources (it’s their software).

Do you have recent backups from the RoonOnNAS installation? If yes, you can simply copy the data of the previous backup folder into the new one, as visible from the container, and restore a backup.

@BlackJack Asked Qnap’s engineer to install the container station app on my Qnap server, then what’s the next step?

Following the installation guide for Roon Server on QNAP with Docker I posted.

If you get stuck on any of the specific steps, please let us know as much information as you can, and perferably also share screenshots, thank you.

I execute to step 6 as following

Step 6: Connect from Roon Remote

Stop the native QNAP application via the App Store

Open Roon on your phone, tablet, or computer.

Make sure the device is on the same local network as the QNAP NAS.

On the startup screen, click the Select a different Roon Server button if prompted.

, after step 5, I forget to stop native Qnap roon server application through Qnap app center, on start screen the different Roon Server button didn’t prompt, only native roon server and pc core found, even if I stop native Qnap roon server application through Qnap app center, on start screen the different Roon Server button didn’t prompt either, how to manage this issue?

See for example here:

You may have to restart your container after disabling the old app.

Hi @BlackJack after I stop the container and start it again, I start the roon screen it show as attachment, still i have not got a different Roon Server button

So what happens if you choose your NAS on that screen?

And if you Login?

Should I choose continue?

Yes please.

Note: Roon Server inside the container can only see paths from outside the container you mapped during setup of the container in the yaml Docker Compose file. You may have to recreate (Container Station > Applications from the Actions cogwheel choose + Recreate) the container with adapted mappings if you didn’t already did so when creating your current container.
