I turned on my computer this morning, opened Roon Remote on my M4 Mac mini, and started a song in the playlist. A message popped up saying Roon had a new update, so I clicked "Update All." Two minutes later, the music suddenly stopped! Roon Remote couldn't find QNAP TBS-464??

I went to the QNAP App Center and started Roon Server, but then a red "Stopped" message appeared!

The reason you are seeing that red “Stopped” status in the QNAP App Center is that the newest Roon update (Build 1653) introduced new minimum system requirements. The standard Roon Server app relies on older software libraries built into the native QNAP operating system, which Roon can no longer support. As a result, the app immediately stops itself.

The great news is that your QNAP TBS-464 is still a fantastic machine for Roon. To get everything working again, you just need to transition to our official Docker-based installation. Running Roon inside a Docker container provides it with the modern, isolated environment it needs, ensuring much better long-term stability and performance on your NAS.

great, this update completely killed my roon and the docker requirements are 4gb of ram where I’m only using 3. My roon was running perfectly this morning, and now I’m forced into buying new hardware to support it.

I think its finally time to ditch roon and just move to DLNA based playback
