I am working on learning about Roon so I can setup one of my clients with it. She is not technically oriented so I am trying to make it easy. As part of the process I am using my laptop as the Roon server at our office which works and I added our Bluesound Vault as a NAS drive which worked intially, but now a day later it indicates the drive is not available and after rebooting both my laptop and the Vault the problem persists. It did find around 10000 tracks when initially set up, but as mentioned now shows as unavailable. I can access the Vault by typing the IP address into a browser without issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Describe your network setup
Our office system contains a large wired network distribution for several offices and the wifi is with Ruckus access points. It works flawlessly for all our uses except this current issue with the Vault
Hi @Dallas_Dingle,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. Is it possible that the IP address for the vault has changed? Some routers dynamically assign IP addresses. Also are there any network switches between the Roon server and the router or between the vault and the router? If so what is the make and model of them?
I have the Vault IP as static currently and I can type the address into a browser and the Vault pops up. There are a bunch of switches in our office system. Most of them are Cisco.
Hi @Dallas_Dingle,
Often enterprise networks like most offices have have security settings that can make something like Roon harder to set up. If your client intends to use Roon on a home LAN then set up could be significantly easier. A lot of Roon troubleshooting involves changing network set up and simplifying your network chain which isn’t doable on a network that you don’t own. If it’s possible to begin the setup at your client’s location it may simply work on it’s own and if it doesn’t it would be much easier for us to give you next steps.
