Describe the issue

Roon Server Unable to Discover Network Audio Devices & Usb Audio Devices

My Roon Server is running on a M1 Mac mini running 14.7.1

The Mac mini is rack mounted with only ethernet enabled and has been since its instillation last year. It has functioned without error up until last week.

I have a mix of Sonos, HomePods, and Marantz Receivers that I used to have added as wireless audio devices as well as a Schitt Stack at my desk added to the Roon Remote app (separate machine from the Roon Server)

I am running the most recent Roon software release and am looking for assistance in solving this issue.

Describe your network setup

ATT Modem/Router BGW320-500 (in bridge Mode)

Eero 6+ (acting as main router)

Roon Server is wired into a 10gbe switch connected directly to the main Eero router (not the extender)

Hi @SclSrb,
Thanks for reaching out to ask us about this issue. Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.

If that doesn’t solve the issue please check the following. Can you confirm that the missing networked speakers show up in the router settings? If they do can they be seen from the Mac Mini outside of Roon?

Hello @daniel ,

When in system settings, “Local Network” is not an option listed at all. It is present on my other Macs, but not the Roon Server Mac.

This Mac mini is also scheduled to reboot everyday at 4a and reopen Roon after executing a series of tasks.

Under the “Airplay” function of the Mac all the speakers that I wish to add are visible and usable by the machine as speaker outputs.

The speakers are also all present in my Eero app and usable via third parties (Spotify connect, Airplay, Heos, Sonos App)

-Thank you

Hi @SclSrb

That’s pretty odd. Are you running something other than MacOS on the MacMini hardware? Is it configured in a unique way?

Good morning @Daniel ,

I went ahead and assumed that my issue might be that I was running the latest Roon software, but not the latest macOS. After updating to 15.1 from 14.7.1 on the Mini running Roon Server all audio output devices appeared.

I typically hold off on updating to the latest macOS to allow for any bugs to be fixed in the first couple of .1, .2 iterations of the software.

After updating I navigated to the “local network” section, which is only present in Sequoia it seems, and made sure Roon Server and Roon had access.

Conclusion: Everything appears to be working correctly now after updating my macOS to 15.1.

Thank you for your assistance @Daniel !

All the best,
