Description of Issue

The Core Server is a headless device running all the time. Today I couldn’t connect to Roon so when I checked I found that Roon Server is not running. Multiple tries with restarts did not improve the situation. When I try to start Roon Server manually, I see no action. Roon is not seen under services either.

No change made to the server. Server running without any problems (JRiver installed on the same device works normally).

What can be the reason?

Thanks a lot

Yaman

I’ve got the same issue. Can’t get Roon server to start after having it running pretty flawlessly for awhile. I don’t recall updating Roon or Windows recently so not sure where to start really.

Will probably try making a copy of the database and installing Roon server again.

Reinstall RoonServer via a download from the Roon Labs webpage. This issue seems to be a common one with the last update - it’s been reported a number of times in the forum.

Maybe helps… I found that the new “roonserver”.exe was named: “roonserver”.exe_new. After renaming it started to work again, but cannot log in to tidal for 2 days…

The login failure is a separate issue and seems to be something in your setup. It’s not being reported by others.

Edit: I’ve just checked in my RoonServer application folder, and there’s no sign of a file called roonserver.exe_new. Perhaps you could also try a reinstall and see if this resolves your Tidal login failure issue?

Actually I saw another post with the same error so it is not just me. Nothing changed in my settings, only the roon update happened…
I know actually that i will have to reinstall it again… cant even count how many times i had to reinstall after the update screwed it… pretty annoying, specially that i run a win server in core mode, and no screen neraby…

Hi Geoff,

Anything needed apart from plain istall? Roon is doing an automatic off-site backup.

Thanks

Yaman

Plain install. That’s all I, and others, did.

Working now.

Thanks a lot

Looks like a botched upgrade. I made sure old versions had exe_old and new versions had exe and it started fine. Database is updating as I type
