Anyone else noticing search has gone very slow. Retrieving data seems to be hit and miss for me which always points to it being their metadata servers in trouble. Noticed this yesterday afternoon, was better in evening and it’s slow again this morning. @Michael_Harris you mentioned yesterday you had some issues as well?
Just did some searches; results pop up directly, even on more difficult searches (silly dutch artists from decades ago…)
so no problems on my side
It’s very hit and miss as I said. You can perform one search and it fine, then next will be slow. It’s all related to load. A search for The Beatles just now took 8-10 secs, that’s slow. Rolling Stones after 2 secs. Had this so many times in the past and it’s always ended up being their servers. I suspect the same and is load related.
Funny, same here in Germany, Beatles taking >30sec, Rolling Stones <3sec
EDIT:
Have neither in my library, local or streaming…
both within a second here, Beatles and Rolling Stones…
Simon
Overnight Friday and Saturday morning were a search disaster for me. Last night was not great either and I rebooted my Rock server yet again which made no difference.
Seems to be reasonably good this morning with first results coming in after about 2-3 seconds. It was 10-20 seconds yesterday (and often completely failing and I often had to back out and start again).
All I want is the option of local search for when I am looking for something in my library (which is 90% of my searches)
I literally couldn’t find what I wanted to listen to on Friday night and I ended up finding the music through other methods.
Yes, about an hour ago search was slow, and I was seeing “Roon Search Unavailable” messages. Haven’t tried since.
Yep I got the unavailable notice yesterday too but not today yet. Definitely server meltdown again.
we can ask @Peter_Bruderer to “work his magic” on those networks…
Hi Kees, I guess there is not much magic to apply. Looks like the backend (Roon API) got a problem:
At the same time I see in the logs:
09/24 11:38:12 Trace: [music/search] starting search for query beatles

I learnt once, just typing the search item and waiting is different to “search item” and enter.
So when I enter beatles and hit enter, Roon finds something. If I type beatles and wait, the request dies.
In my case I can confirm it is 100% not my network, which causes a problem.
Now after typing this text and trying it again, everything works as expected.
I bet @Peter_Bruderer doesn’t have this issue as he has a full set of Roon server’s in his underground bunker to support the Swiss users
Edit: a bit too slow with my typing
Michael, you lost that bet. I do have the same problem and I have only one Roon server in my underground.
Contractual obligations and NDA’s always get in the way of the truth
This is why I am on this forum
One in every 10 lands like a , not much I can do with the other 9 besides to quietly go back and delete my posts
It was a little sluggish for sure.
Just now, near instant.
Chu - returned Chumbawamba as my top result in 1 second.
Maybe Danny hadn’t put €/$/£1 in the coin operated pre-pay electric meter , silly Danny
The hamsters on the wheel had decided to stop work due to poor working conditions, threats of AI from Valance and lack of residuals from Roon Radio.
Lately I use filter to seach my library. I only use search when I have to.
Nice work around and I saw that after @xxx posted in another thread and I did use it
It makes sense in the current world of broken Roon search, but beyond that it doesn’t make much sense if we had good working search (at least too me).
And here lies the problem. Tbh I use filter a lot but it’s not as convenient, as search is accessible from any page your in. Having to navigate away from where you to albums, artists, tracks to then have to type in a filter is more steps than is needed.
