Roon Shutting Down Seconds After Start

Core Machine (Operating system/System info/Roon build number)

Win 10 Pro, Core i7-4785T CPU, 16GB Ram, latest Roon Core build

Network Details (Including networking gear model/manufacturer and if on WiFi/Ethernet)

Ethernet, ASUS AC2900 Router

Audio Devices (Specify what device you’re using and its connection type - USB/HDMI/etc.)

Various speakers, connected through devices such as Google Nest Audio, miniDSP SHD, and a DAC connected to my computer via USB. Mix of cable and wireless connections.

Description Of Issue

When I set up Roon to use a Network folder (to connect to a Samsung SSD USB hard drive connected to my Asus Router), the Roon program initially builds the folder music data but then shuts down. Consequent starts result in the program shutting down seconds later.

I have tried connecting to the network folder both through regular path and smb path. Both options “work.”

I like to have the hard drive connected to the router itself as other systems in my house use it flawlessly, including my miniDSP SHD. I was hoping Roon would support this so that I can use Roon with systems throughout my house.

Just in case, I have the latest build of Microsoft NET Framework 4.8.

Thank you!

Sorry for the trouble here, @fran!

Would you kindly use the directions found here and send us over a set of logs using a shared Dropbox link? Thanks!

Hello @dylan. I don’t have dropbox but is this google drive link helpful?

Let me know if there is a better method for you.

Have you tried only using one endpoint, the Roon Core, and your library. Simplify the system, then add additional endpoints one at a time.

Yes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program with various configurations to see what was up. The problem occurs when I link the network folder.

Hi @fran,

Thanks for sending those log files over! I’m seeing Roon try to extract the following directory multiple times in your log: \MUSICA\sda3\Brian Eno - NYT - Brian Eno’s 15 Essential Ambient Works\

Is this directory located on your drive? If so, can you try temporarily moving this directory into another folder where Roon is not watching and reboot the Core?

That seemed to work! Thank you for the excellent customer service!
