All of my zones are working correctly (bluOS devices) but when streaming to my C658 (NAD) Roon keeps skipping. This problem is on all media type (tidal, Qobuz or local). I run a Roon Core connected via Ether et to the ISP. All my other devices are connected via WiFi.
Describe your network setup
Roon Rock plugged on ethernet to ISP. Blusound Pulse on WiFi (2 zones) and C658 (WiFi) with BluOS paired with power amplifier.
Hi there
I have the ISP box handling DHCP and a Deco WiFi access point plugged to the ISP. The C658 is connected to the WiFi Access point.
No switch in between.
It has always worked this way (almost seamlessly) but the last couple of days I haven’t been able to stream properly on the NAD amp.
When using BluoOS streaming, the endpoint itself downloads compressed FLAC files. When using Roon, the RoonServer downloads the FLAC, uncompresses it, and streams raw PCM to the endpoint.
Hence, the network usage of Roon needs more bandwidth and it is also more sensitive to latency on the LAN. I would start with looking at the WiFi network.
@Suedkiez makes a good point above - the more you can connect directly, the better the consistency of strong network connection you’ll have.
We were able to review a recent diagnostic report form your Roon Server, and can see playback stopping due to too many repeated dropouts in playback:
Warn: [Worker (1)] [Living Room] [zoneplayer/raat] Too many dropouts (>3s dropped out in the last 30s). Killing stream
Warn: [Broker:Transport] [zone Living Room] Track Stopped Due to Slow Media
Are you able to temporarily setup a hardwire connection to one of your endpoints and test to see if the same issues persist?
