Describe the issue
I am using Minisforum mini PC running Win10 and FxSound EQ. I have local music library on HD and Tidal account. If I am using netradio (for example Radio Paradise) after quitting Roon and when I get back to Roon it shows the playing animation in front of the song and skipping all the songs in the album without giving any sound. I am not able to tell the time between netradio and Roon as it can happen quick or after longer time. I also has a feeling it happens when changing albums insi Roon but I am not sure about this. It doesn't help rebooting Roon but normally rebooting the PC helps. Everything worked ok for years without any major problems and also the PC works otherwise normally.
Describe your network setup
Internet connection via cable-tv connection and cable modem Arris TG2482. No other equipment. modem
First off, welcome to the community! We’re happy to have you here, but apologize its an issue thats prompted your recent post.
As a first step in troubleshooting, please safely stop your Roon Server, and power cycle both your Roon Server machine as well as your router. Let me know if your exerpince similar issues after bringing everything back online - if you do, share the specific track name that kicks off your issue and we’ll take a closer look.
In the meantime, do you have any VPNs active in your setup currently? That, or any third-party antivirus or firewall software - you’ll want to make sure Roon is listed as a proper exception to any firewall-related programs. Here’s more info:

Describe the issue
Hi Benjamin,
Power cycling the Roon server PC is normally enough to return to the normal behaviour. I don't have any separate Roon server, just one PC. The skipping starts from the beginning of the album whatever it might be or somewhere else if not started from the beginning. So no special track or album.
I am running NordVPN and Malwarebytes antivirus and I have been using them for years with Roon with no problems.
While this is likely the case, it would still be good to cross these off the troubleshooting list! The use of VPNs falls outside the scope of support as well, so you’ll need to disable that while we continue to troubleshoot.
Let me know if you’re able to reproduce the issue after temporarily disabling your antivirus programs. Thank you!
Hello, the skipping problem continues even though vpn and antivirus turned off. And indeed the vpn has also split tunneling for Roon as otherwise I am not able to run Roon on my mobile. I forgot that I am using Kamo as well but disabling it makes no difference.
I didn’t get any response to my last message and I am getting really annoyed to restart my PC many times a day to get Roon working again and today even restarting didn’t help!
Can you please confirm, when you mentioned quitting Roon does not solve it, was this just the graphical aspect or were you quitting RoonServer from the task bar as well? You mentioned the issue happening when changing albums as well, is there any change if you use Roon’s MUSE (DSP Engine) to resample the output to one specific rate? Or finally, if you enter Device Setup for the zone, Advanced options and try to add a bit of Resync Delay?
Every time when the skipping starts quitting Roon doesn’t solve the problem and yes it is not in the task bar. What I meant is that even rebooting my PC doesn’t solve the problem every time but in most cases it does the trick.
Yes, it happens on both Tidal and local albums. Also many times it can take ages to see the Tidal albums I have added on my cellular on Roon albums.
I am not using MUSE.
I can try to add Resync Delay but I don’t think it will help as I have been using Roon, NordVPN, Malwarebytes and Kamo for many years without any problems. Also no new programs etc. as the PC is used just for Roon and some netradios.
Hello again, the problem is getting worse and I hardly can use Roon any more! Today I have rebooted my PC for three times and it doesn’t help! In addition, today the play suddenly stopped and after pushing the play button the skipping started again! I am really tired to Roon after years of troublefree listening! Everything else, Tidal (without Roon) and the netradios work without any problems! I am really finished with the continuous rebooting and even that doesn’t help every time!
That sounds like the other program is not giving up it’s access to the DAC. Roon tries to get exclusive access to the DAC and if it can’t it gives symptoms like you describe.
I got the impression from your posts that the issue occurs after you use the netradio program and then start Roon. A reboot and Roon is working fine. If I misunderstood, I apologize.
Skipping normally starts after using netradio but normally after longer time, not right after closing netradio. Lately skipping started also while listeninig Roon: the playing stops like Pause was pushed and then after pushing Play skipping starts. Closing and restarting Roon doesn’t help. Only restarting the PC normally helps but not always and more than one restart is needed!
I totally lost my nerves to Roon! Today even no netradios or anything else Roon suddenly stopped playing like Pause-button was pushed! After pushing Play-button tje skipping starts! And the same happened after totally shutting down the PC and restarting! It seems that the lifelong licence really works: Roon came to the end of it! Thank god Tidal and the netradios work flawlessly… the problem is that I have over 5000 CD’s on local disk and I cannot listen to them! I wish there was an alternative to Roon!
In an attempt to troubleshoot your complaint, we’ve collected Roon logs. And after their analysis, we’ve found some clues that suggest FxSound EQ software might be influencing Roon’s ability to synchronize with your audio devices. To troubleshoot, could you temporarily disable or uninstall (preferable to ensure this is not affecting in background or anything like that) FxSound and see if this resolves the issue? Sometimes, third-party audio processing software can create conflicts with Roon’s playback synchronization. Testing this will help us confirm if FxSound is contributing to the track-skipping problem.
Please let us know how it goes, and we’ll be here to assist further based on the results.
I’m seeing the same failure in the logs as before, both when playing to System Output and to FxSound. I understand this might be frustrating, but since both outputs are using the same underlying sound card, any configuration issue affecting one would likely impact the other as well.
Could you try playing to a different zone that isn’t on your Windows machine? For example, you could connect using the Roon app on your phone and select the phone itself as the playback zone. This will help us determine if the issue is specific to your Windows setup or if it occurs across other devices as well.
I have disabled, NordVPN, Malwarebytes virus scanner, Kamo and SoundFX that I have been using with Roon for many years WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS!!! Now Roon is totally unusable though I got lifelong licence!!! And there is no support at all!!! THE ROON IS TOTALLY UNUSABLE!!!
