Can you get Roon to play locally on the Core (this takes the network variable out of the equation)? Your router is fairly old (discontinued 4.5 years ago); the reason I bring that up is that even without using WiFi, older routers of this vintage may not have the ability to support the high bandwidth and low latency (i.e., network traffic) that Roon requires.
If you are able to play sound directly from your Core locally, then the network may be an issue.
Thanks for the quick replies! I did a full reboot of my computer, restarted the core, and then I can play songs without any skipping.
TheHammer - this setup worked, but I updated the operating system on the computer the core is run on, so had to reinstall roon on that machine. With this being the case, I’m pretty sure any problems I’m having are software issues, and not hardware issues.
I must pose another question now, being I’m getting some other strange behavior:
Is it possible to have the core running in two instances on the same computer? I ask this because 2 of my remotes - one is my android phone, the other a Amazon Fire 8 HD - act normally, in that if you pick the same audio device, they are playing the same song. Either can pause or play that music. But the remote I run on the computer the core is on, with the same audio device picked, doesn’t sync with the other 2. It will come up with different music, and if I tell it to play its music, it takes over the audio device from the other 2 remotes.
