Hello @myaudioworld1,

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing that screenshot—it reveals exactly why you’re seeing this slowness and the update errors.

Looking at your “About” screen, your Roon Remote (the app on your Mac) is running an older version (build 1353), while your Roon Server (Mirek’s Roon) is on the latest version (build 1641).

When the controller and the server are on different “builds” like this, they struggle to communicate. This mismatch is the direct cause of the slow response times, command delays, and potentially even the audio spikes you’re hearing as the two versions fail to “handshake” properly. The update error on your Mac suggests the internal updater is being blocked or has a corrupted temporary file.

To get everything back in sync, we need to bypass the internal updater and perform a manual refresh:

  1. Quit Roon completely on your MacBook.
  2. Open your Applications folder and drag the current Roon app to the Trash.
  3. Go to the Roon Downloads page.
  4. Download a fresh copy of the macOS installer.
  5. Install the new version and launch it.

Please give that manual reinstall a try and let me know if the app feels snappy again!
