Hi. I have a Mac mini 2014 with i7 processor. It also has 16gb ram and 1tb of ssd. My files are on an external 2Tb ssd. I run it on latest version of Catalina. My problem Roon takes much longer to start up. In the top right of the screen it shows a spinning icon as if it’s buffering.when playing music you could barely finish a song before stopping, a pause and then a different track. After cleaning up my albums there now appears to 14 versions of every local album. I don’t stream with tidal etc and my local files go direct to my dac. Please help!! Kind regards, Simon
Describe your network setup
I have a uk sky router wired to my Mac mini via Ethernet
Can you please let us know the exact local time + date when you next observe this behavior and share a screenshot of what Roon displays after clicking the spinner?
Also, you may want to set Background and On-Demand Audio Analysis to Off under Roon Settings → Library. We’ll enable diagnostics mode for your account after receiving this info.
I have managed to sort the library file duplicates by removing Roon and doing a fresh installation. But the problem is still random stops and skipping during play back and Roon still can’t find os Roon server.
My DAC has also gone missing in the audio settings so I have no sound
@Geoff_Coupe is correct above - you wont see anything there unless you’re running a machine with roonOS installed. Nothing to worry about there in your current setup!
Could you reproduce the issue and share the specific track name the next time this happens?
With that, we’ll want to review a set of Roon Server logs, if you could please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
Well I have decided to do this a little earlier than planed. I have an intel nuc on its way and I will load Roon Rock . I will start from scratch and sell on the Mac mini as this was its only function. So my question is: is there anything I need to do with Mac mini before I start with the Nuc. Guess I’m using the same account and log in details for the nuc. My flac music files are on my external hard drive that’s connected to the Mac. Thanks for the help
If you create a Roon Backup and restore it to your ROCK you should have all your data transferred over. Please see the guide below and let us know how it goes once your ROCK arrives, thanks!
