Hi @JOHN_HENRICK,

We enabled diagnostics and we found lost AirPlay packets right before your timestamp, and then a sudden crash followed, though it may not be related.

Please try create a Backup if your Roon database and then try reinstalling the Operating System from the RoonOS WebUI.

Once that is complete, please let us know whether the slowdown and playback issues are still present.

Hi ,

Reinstalled as requested

Very slow today 11.04am 11th may

Took a long time to start playback or view albums

Reboot resolved but I have to do this every few days

Hi @JOHN_HENRICK,

Thanks for the update, and I’m sorry to hear performance degrades over time, until you reboot Roon Server.

If possible, could you please share a screenshot of your Roon Settings > Library > Clean up library?

I’m curious to know how many tracks Roon might be attempting to identify. Thank you!

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for that @JOHN_HENRICK, it doesn’t look like there are any blockers in your case.

Our development team is still working on some additional memory-related optimizations that I’m hoping will help your case.

Until these get released in an upcoming Roon update, I’d suggest performing a daily server reboot for now, to help curb the dip in performance.

I realize this is less than ideal, and you have my apologies here. The team is working hard on getting these additional optimizations finished and released as quickly and as thoroughly as possible. :folded_hands:

Thanks for the update

Will reboot every day

Slow again today 1847. 180526

Hi @JOHN_HENRICK,

Thanks for the update. Our development team is still working on additional memory-related optimizations, and we’re hopeful those will help your case.

Until those changes are released in an upcoming Roon update, please keep performing a daily server reboot for now. Please let us know if anything changes.

Hey, @JOHN_HENRICK.

We recently released a new Roon update, can you please try it out and let us know if it helped with the issues you were experiencing?

Will.do updating now

still seeing slow down after a day or so resolved via a reboot

Hi @JOHN_HENRICK,

Thank you for the update and for your patience. We’re sorry the latest update hasn’t resolved the slowdown.

To help our team investigate further, could you send us your Roon database? Please do this the next time the slowdown occurs, before rebooting, so we can capture the state of the database while the issue is active.

  1. Find your database location
  2. Stop your Roon Server
  3. Zip up your Roon database folder
  4. Submit the .zip file through our Database Issues portal

Thank you!

Thanks for the reply and update

database zipped and uploaded as

jphenrickdatabase.7z

Thanks for sending that over @JOHN_HENRICK, we’ll be in touch once our team has had time to analyse things further. :+1:

Until then, unfortunately, your best bet would be to perform a daily reboot of Roon Server, which I know is less than ideal.

The easiest and quickest way to do this would be to restart Roon Server via the webUI of your ROCK. Here’s more info on the webUI:

Thank you
