Hi @George_Carty,
Thanks for reaching out to us to ask for help with this issue. Before we can begin troubleshooting we need a better understanding of what is wrong. Which part of Roon won’t start up? Is it the server itself or a remote device? If you see any error messages can you share them with us?

Once we have more information we can start to troubleshoot you Roon installation. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Hi @George_Carty,

Roon server software not running and will not restart

Hey @George_Carty,

Thanks for the follow-up! Your Nucleus appears to have been online and active recently, are you still running into issues?

If possible, I would suggest restoring an older saved backup that predates any of the issues you’re having - let me know when you’ve done this and we’ll enable diagnostics for your Nucleus. Thank you! :raised_hands:

I was able to restore from a previous backup but only AFTER restoring Nucleus to factory settings. By the way, my most recent backups were not available and had to use an old backup from last May. Initially a got another error message and had to restore AGAIN, from same backup. It’s working but it has been less than 24 hours.

Hey @George_Carty,

Thanks for the update! Based on your above description, we enabled diagnostic on your Nucleus to take a closer look, and unfortunately it appears that your database your currently running is corrupt:

Warn: [Broker:Misc] [broker] validation failed: LevelDb.Exception: Corruption: missing start of fragmented record(2)
 at LevelDb.Database._CheckError(IntPtr err)
 at LevelDb.Database..ctor(String path)
 at Sooloos.Broker.Database.Validate()

Do you have any other available backups that predate the issues you’re having? Outside of this, your best next step would be to start a completely fresh database, and re-import your local library. I realize this is far from ideal, you have my apologies here. :-1:

Well Benjamin, I am trying to restore from the only other backup available. I just don’t see how it is going to make any difference since the problem I reported occurred in November and my initial restore was from last May. By re-importing my local library do you mean my music files? and what about years worth of playlists?

I used my last available backup from April. Is it still showing errors?

Hey @George_Carty,

Thanks for your patience!

After review, we didn’t see any traces of database corruption, so you should be all set! :raised_hands:

Thanks Benjamin!
