Hi all,
First off - isn’t Roon amazing? Great to share the love a bit.
Secondly, my question is: I currently run a Sonos system with 3x Play:1s and a Sonos Connect, and control it with ROCK via an Intel NUC i7 and remote on my iPad.
I want to upgrade my main system amp to a Roon-Ready Naim Atom, and was wondering whether I will be able to play music to the Naim and to the Sonos simultaneously - ie group zones from different manufacturers.
A sub-question is whether the quality used would be lowest-common-denominator - ie 16bit/48khz for the Sonos - or whether the Naim would be sent a 24-192 stream and the Sonos would be sent a separate stream.
If I can’t group Naim and Sonos together successfully I’ll have a think about selling the Sonos and getting a Mu-so to replace some of the Sonos Play:1s, but I would rather not be hit with that extra expense.
Many many thanks in advance, thanks for indulging a sound nerd.
Cheers! John
No you can’t group Sonos and roon ready devices.
Thanks @ged_hickman1 - so if I got rid of the Sonos and got a Muso to replace them, would that work nicely? I’m just assuming the same manufacturer would share compatibility.
I’m not too sure of my facts here but I think the muso only works via airplay so not sure if the muso and the atom can be grouped. Maybe ask in support rather than audio products and get one of the wiser heads to respond.
Musu is not Roon ready so as @ged_hickman1 says you would have to used AirPlay which kind of defeats the point. Undoubtedly the muso will be upgraded to Roon ready as all Naim streamers except it are now Roon Ready.

Again thanks very much for responding @Sloop_John_B. I heard a Muso the other day and it sounded brilliant. Maybe multiroom utopia is still some way off yet.
Cheers!
Hi John. I have exactly the same wish. I use the Sonos connect to be able to stream Roon or other sources to my Uniti Atom as well as my Sonos speakers, which works fine for 16/48. But I want to be able to stream synchronised high res to the Atom, while 16/48 goes to the Sonos speakers. I thought I had found a workaround by using a phono amp to boost the Naim pre-out signal to the line in on the Sonos connect - letting the Atom drive everything. But the Sonos system has a small delay, to ensure network stability, so this did not work.
Have you gone for Musos?
You can’t do this as the only way to have them all playing in sync is to use airplay and that does not support hires. You need fully RAAT compatible speakers or endpoints to get hires in sync play or some Chromecast devices might but more often Roon sees them as only supporting. 48/24.
