Describe the issue

Roon stopped working on December 20. It was working fine after I added a new MacBook Pro running the app as a remote but I think this has something to do with the problem. My Roon server is on an older MacBook Pro.Roon software is current. The roon appl. on my roon server (old MacBook) opens but stayed on the roon clock. Sorry not sure how to explain. It is really messed up. old MacBook (2015) is running Montery V12.7.6 which is the latest MacOS that it can run. I wanted to keep it solely to run Roon and for a while it was working. If needed I can run Roon Server on my new Mac but I need some help if I need to move files... I am getting ahead of the solution now... Thank you for any help..

Hi @Carl_Cullison,

Thank you for your post.

There are a few steps you can try right away that cover the most common scenarios.

First, on the new MacBook Pro that has MacOS Sequoia, make sure to navigate to System Settings → Privacy&Security → Local Network and grant Roon access. Sequoia contains security features that will prevent a Roon server or controller (remote) from reaching the network. This is no doubt exacerbating the problem.

Second, make sure you have enabled multicast forwarding and IGMP snooping in your mesh WiFi administration settings page, if those settings are available.

If neither of these settings help, then try hardwiring the Macbook functioning as the RoonServer machine to the main router via an ethernet cable. Restart RoonServer on that machine while it’s connected in this fashion. If Roon is open on your other machines, and they are on the same subnetwork, then they should see the active RoonServer instance.

Let us know if this helps. We’ll activate diagnostics in the meantime to illuminate further troubleshooting. Thank you!

Thank you Connor! It is working now… I swear I restarted my old MacBook that is running the Roon Server before but when I restarted this time, the Roon server came up and functioned properly. Much appreciate your response.

I did your first two steps but did not change anything. I could not find my ethernet to thunderbolt adaptor so I could not connect to my router via. ethernet (I need to find it sometime).
