Like a few others in this forum, I’ve been experiencing trouble with Roon such that playing tracks from any source (Qobuz, Tidal or local servers), would ultimately lead to the music stopping. I’ve spent hours searching for answers on the web and in this forum and I’ve only ever found posts from others in this who have shared similar experiences. It’s been frustrating to the point where I’ve come incredibly close to pulling the plug on Roon forever. Until now…
My entire setup is wired and I consider my home network to be very robust. My audio equipment includes NAIM streamers (Uniti and NDX2), NAIM Mu-so speakers (wired) and two Bluesound POWERNODES. My Roon Core is a Mac mini M1. And I’m technically skilled and proficient.
Last night, after spending more time troubleshooting my Roon playback issues, I discovered that my problem that I had two devices on my network with the same name. One of my Apple HomePod minis had a hostname ‘Master Bedroom’ and one of my POWERNODES also had a hostname ‘Master Bedroom’. Since changing the name on my MBR HomePod mini (changed to something like Master Bedroom HomePod mini), I’ve not had one Roon playback issue. Roon music streams have been playing flawlessly and uninterrupted since making that change.
I thought I’d share my story hoping that what solved my long standing Roon playback trouble will help others as well.
