Description Of Issue

Roon stops working intermittently…sometimes many times in a day, sometimes it won’t happen for a few days. Music stops (usually after a song is completed), library images past the first page not displayed (maybe one line of images and the rest of the page empty), all actions cease to work. During these “outages” my entire network is still available ( I can access and restart my SonicTransporter and Roon server and I can “see” everything via Fing). During these outages my download speeds are fine and everything else on my network (apple TV and MacBook) work fine via wifi.
This issue has been going on for months. In those months I have dumped my Apple Extreme for Eero (no change) I have ditched the fiber to the switch and replaced it with cat6 (no change) I have replaced the switch with a Trendnet (no change).
I can’t figure out the problem!

Hi @Stephen_Brooks,

Can you elaborate on this? Is Roon “frozen” or are you able to select tracks / albums and start playback but then playback doesn’t work?

Can you share a screenshot of what you’re seeing?

Have you noticed any patterns in when this seems to occur or anything that seems to trigger this behavior?

Its not frozen as I can scroll through the pages but after the first page I will usually only see a partially populated page like the one I attached here. I can't click on any album or play any. Its like all data to Roon just stops. Then after two minutes or maybe 30 minutes all is good again. No idea if its related or not but last night I added an album from a streaming service...16 hours later the art was still not imported and the scanning "circle" at the top of the screen kept going and going like it was trying to import but having no luck. This used to happen a lot but rarely now. Is that any help?

Hi @Stephen_Brooks,

Thanks for the screenshot!

Can you confirm what resource usage looks like on the Mac during this time? Does everything look normal or is resource usage abnormally high?

The mac is only being used for remote control. The problem exists no matter what remote I’m using at the time or which zone. For example, also when I use my iPhone to control the sonos in another part of the apt.
But to answer your question…its a brand new M1 MacBook and I rarely use anything that is resource intensive…gmail and word maybe?

Any ideas of what to try next? I’m stumped.
