I am familiar with the Sonos line and KEF LS-50’s. Are there any other active room streamers that I should be looking at?

Another option is an old or new Apple Airport Express. They are the original AirPlay conduit. Some of them have both 3.5mm analog out combined with Toslink. Connect to have powered speaker with input(s).

Zone grouping works with like devices, AirPlay devices are the most common around my place, fantastic for parties or simply filling the house, shop and backyard with the same music.
