Hi,
you think it’s possible to LMS support in the future?
you can send streaming to logitech media center?
NO Squeezebox.
You don’t stream to LMS, it’s a server. LMS streams to endpoints just like Roon.
yeah sure, I expressed myself badly.
I intended to spend the playlist at LMS and this stream to squeezelite.
There are many users out there using squeezelite as a player.
With LMS it is also now possible to PCM conversion> DSD via C-3PO plug-in.
But surely it LMS as musicLibrary is not comparable to Roon, why my question.
Roon already supports LMS players.
I do not think this is possible:
roon> LMS> squeezelite
what I think is possible is:
Roon> squeezebox
and are not the same thing
Roon> LMS> SqueezeLite … NO
Roon> SqueezeBox …YES
Yes, that was clear, but my question is: in the future will be possible to have Roon> LMS> Squeezelite?
Or is something that does not interest the authors of Roon?
I don’t see that ever happening.
However I will move your topic to the Feature Request section of the forum.
Not Roon > LMS >Squeezelite
but I’ve definitely had Roon > Squeezelite working with the compatibility in Roon.
I don’t know why you would want a, redundant, LMS in the chain.
I would assume he needs to stream outside of his local network. LMS will do that with a couple open ports on his router.
That’s what’s got me confused too. Whilst Squeezelite isn’ officially supported it works perfectly well as a Squeezebox endpoint within Roon.
Let’s find out what the OP is trying to achieve here?
The situation is this:
Pc1 (player) linux + squeezelite (NO squeezebox)
Pc2 (server) LMS (makes converting pcm> dsd by C-3PO plugin) + Roon (audiolibrary only)
and what are you looking to do in/via Roon?
roon should only send the playlist to lms
Roon can stream to the squeezelite and can convert to DSD using the DSP if the end point supports it.
I still don’t understand why you want LMS in there
If you’re trying to stream from one PC to the other here’s what I would do (assuming there are no other devices on your network)
I would use Roon for library and streaming (it can also upsample to DSD)
As you have a linux desktop i’d install Roon Bridge (replace squeezelite) on that and you will be only limited in what it can output by the soundcard/DAC that’s attached to that PC.
It is what I want to do.
I am very well with squeezelite.
Wow, I thought there would be a legitimate reason like different networks but the reason is a real head shaker considering how well roonbridge works and how finicky and terrible squeezelite can be.
Better give roonbridge a try, there 0% chance of your request being implemented.
What we are struggling with here is why you want to keep LMS when Roon performs the majority of functions that LMS does and a whole lot more.
Roon will work with Squeezelite, so that’s not the reason. I was offering Roon bridge as an alternative as it is more fully featured but Squeezelite still works.
So the question is what does LMS do that Roon doesn’t.
