Roon stuck at 'Adding music to library' with 100% CPU usage (ref#G6EXBD)

Roon is stuck "Adding music to library". I am unable to open any playlists or my library. The roonserver is pegged at 100% CPU.

My home server is hard-wired to a Unifi Dream Router 6.

Thanks for writing into the community - we’re excited to have you here!

Based on your screenshot, it looks like Roon may be caught up on a single track. That said, it does appear that your Roon Server is currently running - we’re not able to pin down which track is causing you issues.

Do you have a recent backup saved? If so, let’s see if a database refresh helps. If you don’t have a backup saved, don’t perform the below steps:

  • Make a Backup of your current RoonServer Database
  • Exit out of RoonServer
  • Navigate to your RoonServer’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”
  • Reinstall the RoonServer App from our Downloads Page to generate a new RoonServer folder
  • On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database

Are you able to set up a temporary direct ethernet connection from your Roon Server to your router as well?

I’ve re-installed Roon on my linux machine following those instructions.

The server still seems stalled on Adding music to library

Yes, it is always hard-wired.

I uploaded my RoonServer log to the Logs Upload Server. Let me know if there’s any other info I can collect!

Thanks for your patience and for sending over a set of Roon Server logs. Upon further examination, we weren’t able to pinpoint any specific tracks potentially causing the hangup in your import process.

Where are you importing your library from? It may be worth moving it to a different location, and test to see if the same hangup occurs.

Or, if possible, split your library out into smaller chunks and smaller subfolders, and test to see if you’re able to get a portion of your library imported properly. This also may allow us to better review a fresh set of Roon Server logs to better pinpoint if it’s a specific track or album causing the hang.
