Describe the issue
It is stuck on Connect to your Roon Server. If i hit the link to "Configure Roon OS device" there is a constant "Searching for Roon OS Server". "Make sure your Nucleus or Roon Server is turned on and connnected to network. It is connected and function on my desktop PC.
Describe your network setup
I have Google Fiber for Wifi and router. I have extenders but am not connected to them on the 2.4Ghz network. I am all 5Ghz
If you are running RoonServer on MacOS, you are not running a Roon OS device. So, you will never find a Roon OS server using the “Configure Roon OS devices” link. And that screen is correct for your environment.
I am not running a roon server on mac os. My roon server is on my desktop PC. I am just trying to access the roon server so i can use my Ipad to control music when in the music room. I added a pic to the chat of the message i am receiving. Dave
I guess I was confused and assumed your PC was running MacOS because you mentioned it in your post.
What is the OS of the PC you are running RoonServer ON?
RoonOS is not RoonServer. The “Configure Roon OS device” only returns servers which are running RoonOS, that would be a Nucleus, or a user built ROCK unit. It does not return any information if you are running Roonserver on any other OS, like MacOS, Windows, or Linux.
That is why I suggested posting a pic without that pop up. Because if you are not using a Nucleus or a built ROCK unit, that pop up is not relevant to your situation.
I am a fellow user like you not official support. Support will show up when this had made it to the top of the queue.
There could be several issues causing it, some first things to check would be
Make sure that the Windows PC is set to Private Network.
Test that the Windows PC firewall isn’t blocking things, by, turning it off, seeing if the Ipad connects. Either way turn the firewall back on. If it didn’t help then on to the next step. If it did work then you would need to verify that the Window’s Firewall is allowing RoonServer.exe, RAATserver.exe and Roon.exe.
Verify that the pc running the server and the Ipad are on the same network. In your pic the server is on 192.168.1.x network segment. Check the Ipad’s IP address. Sometimes a router will set the wired devices on a different network than the wifi devices. Roon needs them to all be on the same network.
I am not familiar with, ie do not use, iPads, so I cannot speak to any potential issue on the iPad.
Thanks for taking the time to write in! Both @Rugby and @Carl have shared great information and next steps here.
It may also be worth reviewing your local network - and confirm your devices are not functioning on separate local subnets. Here is more information on how to check this:
Did you check to make sure you’re Windows PC is set to Private network, and did you test the Windows firewall, by turning it off and seeing if the IPad connects?
