Roon stuck on "Ready to switch?" screen during startup (ref#Q1RUGM)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· Roon does not start. I get an empty window with just the Roon animated logo. I tried a few reboots with no effect. Then I turned on airplane mode and tried to start. That gets me to the screen that lets me select this PC as the core. Then I get an empty screen that just says "Ready to switch?" I restore wifi but I am still only able to get as far as that screen. I can select back to choose this PC as a core again but then I get the ready to switch screen again.

Hi @PaulS747,

Thank you for your post.

If you have a Backup available, please try the following steps:

  • Exit out of RoonServer on this machine
  • Navigate to your RoonServer’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Delete the RoonServer folder
  • Reinstall the RoonServer App from our Downloads Page to generate a new RoonServer folder
  • On your Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database

Let us know if you don’t have a Backup available and we’ll proceed with next steps; the above process is basically a “factory reset,” so if you don’t restore from a Backup, you’ll lose your database history and settings.

We’ll watch for your reply.

Before I saw the above I killed the Roon core (which I forgot to do after enabled wifi again) and then I was able to get Roon to start normally. I was able to transfer my core and restore a backup and update Roon to the latest. Everything seems to be working fine now.
