Please try to restart your Roon Server by closing the Roon Server app in the taskbar (MacOS), task manager (Windows) or rebooting your Roon Server machine.

· No, the issue remains the same

Different device

· I cannot switch to a different device

Are you still facing the issue on the different device

· No, the issue remains the same

Describe the issue

It only ever says it is scanning and taking longer than usual to connect

Describe your network setup

I have an Antipodes DSGT music server.it is connected to my router which is from Roger's communication. I have a simaudio moon ace integrated amp.

Hi @Mitch_Rigney,

Thanks for the details.

To help us narrow this down, we need a bit more context about when and how the “scanning / taking longer than usual to connect” behavior occurs:

  1. Does this happen:
  • When you launch the Roon app from scratch on your Android device, or
  • After the app has been running in the background and you return to it?
  1. When you say it’s “taking longer than usual,” what are you comparing it to?
  • How long did it typically take to connect before?
  • How long does it take now (or does it fail completely)?
  1. When did this behavior start?
  • Did it begin suddenly, or has it gradually worsened?
  • Were there any recent changes around that time (router update, Wi-Fi changes, phone OS update, moving devices, etc.)?
  1. Is your Android device connected via:
  • Wi-Fi (and if so, 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz), or
  • Mobile data when you see this behavior(with Tailscale active)?
  1. Just to confirm, is the Antipodes server fully powered on and reachable on your local network when this happens?

Once we have these details, we can better determine whether this is a network discovery issue, an app connection state problem, or something else.

Hi @Mitch_Rigney,

We’ll still require a little more information to take action on this report.

The screenshot you’ve shared seems to indicate that RoonServer’s device discovery announcements aren’t reaching the phone.

Account diagnostics indicate that an Android phone associated with your account was recently active. However, the associated RoonServer hasn’t actually been online for four days, according to the latest logs to reach our servers.

For due diligence, I’d first ensure that RoonServer hasn’t closed in the background or that the Antipodes machine hasn’t inadvertently powered off.

Double-check that Roon is safelisted in any firewalls or third-party network security.

The Rogers router might offer you access to multicast-related settings in the router settings administration page under an “Advanced” tab or similar. Ensure that multicast forwarding is toggled on. If you’re relying on WiFi, then also double-check that any settings related to Band Steering are turned off.

In summary, it’s most likely the case that there’s a simple cause for this problem and we’ll quickly uncover it if we work systematically to remove variables. Please first try restarting the RoonServer machine and ensuring that it’s active on the network outside of Roon.

We’ll watch for your reply. Thank you!
