· My Roon software won't start up

Describe the issue

When I start Roon, it shows my Roon server, then I press it to start, then it just takes me to "snapshotting databases" for hours on end. I cannot get out of it. I do not have more than 100 songs on this so I'm not sure why its taking so long to search

Roon laptop server to dac to amplifier

Hello @michael_8_whittingto ,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for reaching out. Is there any change in behavior if you try to perform a full reboot of your laptop? Can you please use these instructions to upload your Roon logs to the below link and let us know once they are uploaded? After sending the logs, you can try the following reset procedure to reset your Roon + RoonServer app to a fresh install. Let’s try a fresh database and see if your issues persist:

  • Exit out of Roon + RoonServer (from taskbar area)
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon Server” and “Roon”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” and “Roon” to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup

Here is the process outlined from a macOS machine:
