A spinning Roon logo combined with an “unauthorized” error in ARC usually means your local Roon Server is having trouble validating your account credentials with our cloud servers. This causes the app to get stuck in an endless loading loop while it waits for permission.
Let’s try forcing the system to re-authenticate your Mac.
The “Re-authorization” Steps
Close the main Roon application window.
Look at the top menu bar on your Mac (near the Wi-Fi and clock icons) for the small Roon Server icon. Click it and select Quit Roon Server.
Open Finder, navigate to your Applications folder, and launch Roon again.
When the “Choose your Roon Server” screen appears, click the Use this Mac button.
You should be prompted to log in. Go ahead and enter your credentials to re-authorize the core.
A Quick Note on the VPN
If you are still stuck on the spinning logo after trying the steps above, please temporarily turn off your VPN and try again. VPNs can sometimes alter your DNS routing or assign IP addresses that block the specific authentication handshake Roon needs to verify your account.
