I’m having a problem with my Roon software after updating it yesterday. I’ve got all the info entered into a support topic form, but the send button is greyed out. Why is that???
Just in case, here’s the problem (in case someone has an answer)…
I just ran the most recent roon update, and now my main music folder won’t load/isn’t recognized. I’m running Roon on a Mac Mini 2018. My iTunes library is on an external USB hard drive (WD My Passport 25E2 Media). It’s been running fine since I got Roon a year ago, but now that folder won’t load - the drive in the storage folder dialog says "Error loading folder, unauthorized). The error message underneath it says the folder appears to be empty. It’s not. If I try to edit it, I browse, and when I click on the name of the hard drive, I get the folder won’t load message.
Interestingly, my network folders are also listed there, and when I select them, I get the same message. But the music from those drives is in the library and accessible.
As I just updated yesterday and this is now a problem, it’s clear the update screwed things up.
What to do?
Thanks and sorry for the hiccup - I’ve flagged the problem with @support - they will respond after the weekend.
Try rebooting the Mac, then launch Roon again. It may show a MacOS message to ‘allow’ Roon permission to the local network (more specific to device discovery), this may help here.
Thanks for that… I had already tried and didn’t receive that message. However…
I saw a message just now about stricter security protocols in Sequoia… and while I’m still running Sonoma, I opened the Privacy and Security panel and noticed a “category” for Media and Apple Music. Clicked on that and it presented an empty field said "Allow the applications below to access Apple Music… and your media. I added Roon to that, and lo and behold, when I went back to Roon storage prefs, I could then click on Edit, and it reconnected to all folders. So all is good now. Thanks!
