Describe the issue
At first the system would not play random songs. Now it does not play any songs. The system shows as playing and connecting on the app on my phone which is what I use. I know your to thoughts are to a speaker connection but it plays other sources and again this started with not playing random songs and got worse
Describe your network setup
Direct connection to server, wireless to Blue sound node, connected to speakers
Hi @robert.leiter,
Welcome to the Roon community. Thanks for reaching out to us for assistance. First let me clarify exactly what is going on with your Roon server. At the top of your post it says you can’t connect to your Roon server but in your description you only mention not being able to play music.
If connecting to the server is your issue then we’ll need to know what part of connecting is failing. That is are you having trouble starting your Roon Server, signing into Roon, or connecting a remote device to your Roon server?
If the problem is that you aren’t able to play music then here is what we need to know. Do you see any error messages when the music doesn’t play? If not does it look like the music is playing but there’s no sound?
Once you get us that information we can begin troubleshooting your Roon installation and get you back to enjoying your music!
Hi Daniel,
Sorry for the delay; I did not realize I had gotten a response. I will clarify:
I am able to connect to the server. I do not see any error message when the music does not play; it looks like the music is playing but there is no sound. Now, more detail:
Where this started, some months ago, was that I was unable to get selective songs to play. They were not gone from the system; they were there, and showed them as playing in the software. But no sound from the speaker would be heard. I would have song lists which I had often listened to often, where many of the songs were dropping out. Again, the software showed it playing but no sound would be played. Then it would move to a song in the playlist which “worked” and the system sounded great as typical.
Now, things are just a more complete fail, and that expansion of the failure came on quickly. I can get an occasional song to play, but most songs are not playing. This is new. As an example, I was able to play Lou Reed’s Perfect Day, but not Nina Simone’s Feeling Good. I use Tidal; and when I play using Tidal on another system, everything plays so it does not appear to be the music service.
It does not seem it is the stereo hookup per se, or it would not play the random songs I would imagine. I am not super technically savvy, but I can tinker and I have not been able to get this resolved. I was hoping it was a subscription issue, and it was being dysfunctional because I had not paid; but that appears not the issue. Just to point out:
• Of course, I restarted the system, and even disconnected everything at the Roon and through the system. This did not do anything.
• I deleted the software, and reinstalled it. On my phone (which I typically use) and on my computer. No change.
• I have (2) speaker set ups. In one, it goes from the ROON to a BluSound node, and then wired into Meridian speakers. The other is Roon to a BluSound node and wired to Seinhouser speakers. Both rooms used to work without issue, and have not gone through any changes. Both rooms have the exact same issue.
Hi @robert.leiter,
Thank you for the detailed response! It is very helpful. I want to focus on the 2 tracks that you mentioned
We weren’t able to see any differences between these 2 tracks in the logs so I want to look at the signal path for each next. Can you share a screenshot of the signal path of a working track and the signal path of a track that doesn’t play?
