Describe the issue

I have a new PS Audio Strata MK2 and the USB interface on my Mac mini says "Primary Play Interface". When I try to play music in Roon it may play for an instant but stops and says "Can't initialize device" or something like that. The technician at PS Audio says that the USB connection should say "PS Audio 2.0" or something like that. I'm running the latest 15.4 MacOS and wonder if something needs to be reconfigured in Roon if that's how it's gong to read the USB connection.

Describe your network setup

I'm using the white 5G gateway from T-Mobile

Hello @Clifford_Brown ,

Thanks for reaching out with your report.

Have you by any chance tried to use a different USB cable for the connection, and did it have the same issue?

If you check the settings on the Strata itself, do you see a way to enable a different USB mode? Sometimes devices have two USB modes, and perhaps that is what the technician was referring to?

Since this is a USB connected device, you can try to perform a RAATServer refresh to see if this helps. You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon database
  • Exit out of Roon/RoonServer
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new RAATServer folder

Let us know if this helps!
