MBA 2 running 15.3.1 has Roon installed …my Mini M4 is running the Core on a hardwired network. When I try to use Roon on MacBook Air it asks me to select Zone to play but the laptop itself doesnt even show up as an option.
I have set the enabled the laptop repeatedly from Roon on my Mini M4 but then next time it doesnt work and again doesnt even show the MacBook Air as an option (even though I have Roon installed on the laptop)…it only allows me to select the Mini as the audio zone to play music through.
I have the same issue with my iPhone which also has the Roon app installed…
Never had this issue until I recently upgraded the Mac mini to the latest M4 version…please advice how to fix this …its been going on for months
Roon works fine on the Mac mini M4 itself which is running the Core
Do you by any chance have any firewalls or security tools that could be blocking Roon from working properly to discover the zones on the network? I wonder if the local network access settings could be at play?
Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.
Thanks for coming back to me …I did as you suggested re toggling Roon on and off and rebooting but same issue Roon still not allowing me to play on my laptop despite the Roon Remote app being installed and same on my iPhone too.
Please advise how to fix this issue.
I found this article:
Should I try that ? If yes that would require renaming the RAATserver on my M4 Mini where the Roon server is installed - correct?
Also no firewalls or related blockers installed.
Thanks for your help.
The two attachments show the settings as seen from my laptop which has Roon remote installed …notice the laptop and iPhone are not listed.
They were not set to private. I investigated which of the multiple devices listed under Roon Audio settings on my Mac mini …where the Roon server is installed - was actually serving Roon and think perhaps the wrong device was enabled. The problem has since gone…thanks for your help though…
Is there a way to remove all the unwanted and irrelevant devices listed under Audio in Roon to save this happening again in the future? Thanks
Hi @Matthew_Wheelock,
Great we’re glad everything is working as expected now. I’ll mark this thread as solved for you.
Unfortunately there there’s no way to do this currently. Roon will show all of the endpoints it can detect under Audio settings. As a workaround you can set custom names for the endpoints to make it clear which is which. We also have a Feature Suggestions channel of community. You can make a post there suggesting this change.
