Description of Issue
I’ve found that the latest version of Roon doesn’t work with Mac OS Catalina? A previous version 1.8 (Build 970) is the only one which seems to be compatible. The issues with the newest version is: doesn’t connect to playback device and the library isn’t compatible so no music shows up.
Roon 2.0 requires at least macOS 10.15 Catalina according to the specs, so that should work:
If the newest version “doesn’t connect to playback device and the library isn’t compatible” then it seems that the newest version installed and started for you on Catalina, so an incompatibility with the macOS version does not seem to be the issue.
Not finding a playback device is often a network issue.
An incompatible library is usually the case when using an older software version and trying to load a library that was updated with a more recent software version.
Which Roon version do you have installed now? What does it say in Roon > Settings > About?
Thank you Suedkiez and Traian_Boldea for the advice.
I’m not sure what it is about my configuration, but some reason the only version that works for me is 1.8 (build 970). My network connection is good (ethernet) and I’m playing to the ADI DAC which is connected via USB. This is fine - it’s working well and that’s all that matters
